Selecting the Right Wetsuit

How do you choose the correct wetsuit for the type of diving you do?

Ask yourself these 3 easy questions:

First - Where am I going to be diving?

Cold Water- 45-55 degrees

Temperate Water- 55-65 degrees

Warm Water- 65 degrees and up

Second - What am I going to be doing?

Are you SCUBA diving? Freediving or Spearfishing? Maybe a combination of all these. This is most often the case.

Third - How long will I be in the water?

Is this a 30 minute SCUBA dive or a 3-4 hour spearfishing dive?

How are you getting to the dive location? Paddling a Kayak, on a boat, or walking down a cliff?

 Now lets look at materials.

Open and or closed cell Neoprene

This is what most freedive/spearfishing suits are made of. It is super flexible and very warm, most if not all of these suits have attached hoods.

Nylon in and out Neoprene

This is the type of material that most SCUBA suits ate made of. Not as flexible or as warm as the open and or closed cell neoprene. These suits are easier to get into because of the nylon lining on the inside. They also tend to take a little more of a beating.
